Today I decided to post about the importance of the Portion control of our meals. This because many of us cook their plate of spaghetti with tomato sauce or carbonara with unmeasured amount of pasta. But not just pasta, in everything we eat we should take control on our Portion size of the food we eat daily.

Here is a general guideline for you to help you figure out the example of Portion sizes;

1 fruit or vegetable serving – is equal to one piece the size of a tennis ball

3 ounces of lean meat, chicken, fish – measures up to a deck of cards

1 ounce of cheese – equals to about 4 dice

1/2 cup pasta – equals to the size of an ice cream scoop

1 potato serving - equivalent to your computer mouse

1 teaspoon – is approximately the size of the tip of your thumb

Take a look at this ‘Meal Plate’ and you can see how to divide your plate with proper portion size.
